Memories from the Ford Shoot

Who Wants Cake?
I finally had a chance to see (and post) the series of Ford spots I did back in 2004. They ran mostly in the southeast US, which is a bit out of my range (by at least a thousand miles).
It brought back memories of the spot entitled "Shock Response Team - Break Room", where the team reviews a case from earlier in the day. You can see the spot at
Now, the entire shoot was a lot of fun, and the commercials came out great. But like with most things, the little things are what interest me most.
Like, for instance, the fact that my character was eating in the break room for this spot. I really was eating -- crumb cake, to be exact. I can't remember exactly how many takes it took to get it right, but for each one I got a brand-new piece of cake. Needless to say, I was pretty sick of crumb cake by the time we'd finished that first shot.
Still, while shooting that last part (where we jump from our seats to answer the alarm), director Glen Owen decided it'd be a funny punchline to have me go grab more cake on the way out. More cake for Dave!
I have to say it was worth it, though. The punchline did hit the right note at the end. I ate somewhere in the neighborhood of 650 pieces of crumb cake by the time all was said and done.
