Hello, I Must Be Going
In 2011 I was thrilled to be cast in the independent feature Hello, I Must Be Going. The film stars Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents) and Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men, Win Win) and directed by Todd Louiso.
It was amazing to be working with such pros, and the three of them, along with the entire crew, were just great to work with. Having those three professionals, with their combined resumes, be so nice and welcoming was everything you'd hope for. The entire crew, in fact, was fun and really nice.
In the film I played Gary, a carpenter hired by Blythe Danner's character to do several renovations on her Westport, CT home. I had separate scenes with both Blythe and Melanie (who played Blythe's daughter), and while they were short scenes, it was a tremendous opportunity for me.
I was also partnered with a very cool young actor named Josh Bermudez, who is at Yale getting his MFA. He's someone who you should keep an eye on. We spent two days chatting about the business, and he's got a great head on his shoulders.
The film was written by Sarah Koskoff, and her screenplay was one of four scripts chosen for the Sundance Institute's 2009 Screenwriter's Lab. The director, Todd Louiso, may be more familiar to you as an actor, with appearances in Jerry Maguire, High Fidelity, and The Rock.
The film was cast in New York by Barden/Schnee Casting, and my audition was arranged through Diesel Management.
Fun Trivia:
The "Schnee" in Barden/Schnee Casting is Paul Schnee, and before he was a prominent casting director, he was one of the first actors I ever worked with in New York. He and I were in Radio, Radio together at the 2002 NY International Fringe Festival. I hadn't seen him in years until I went into his offices for the audition, and it was definitely nice to see an old friend right before a big opportunity. Thanks, Paul!
